Craving a revitalizing Italian beverage to beat the heat?

Embrace the summery vibes with a delightful limoncello spritz concoction! This Italian cocktail is a perfect blend of limoncello, prosecco, and club soda, resulting in a refreshing and effervescent drink that will satisfy your taste buds.

I adore cocktails that deliver immense flavors using just a handful of ingredients.

During the wintertime, it dazzles with its zesty lemon essence. As the seasons transition to spring and summer, this lemon liqueur cocktail has become our go-to indulgence. Although we've been enjoying it since January, the arrival of warm weather festivities prompts us to share it on the blog, ensuring everyone can revel in its allure.

What is Limoncello?

Limoncello is an Italian liqueur made from the zest of organic fresh lemons, sugar, and high-proof grain alcohol.

The lemons used in authentic limoncello from the Amalfi coast are huge and organic (they call it 'untreated'), with thick rinds. These thick lemon peels are packed with lemon oil, which is where that real lemon flavor comes from, not the juice.

The lemon peels are steeped in the grain-alcohol for several days or even weeks before being strained out and then mixed with simple syrup. It's served as a digestif after dinner all over Italy in cordial glasses because it's believed that limoncello aids in digesting.

Recipe

  1. Desiderio N°1 prosecco
  2. Nice cold limoncello liqueur.
  3. And soda water (aka sparkling water).

The recipe is literally just as simple as the ingredients. It's 3 parts prosecco, 2 parts limoncello, and one part soda water. That's it! Pour them all into your glass, give it a quick stir to combine, and you now have your new favorite cocktail! Super simple.

You can jazz it up in your cocktail glass with a sprig of mint or any other fresh herb you like, maybe a slice of lemon or a pretty lemon wheel or a fancy lemon twist, and a nice amount of ice to keep it chill on a hot summer day! Cheers!
